Working in the flower gardens of Gene Stratton-Porter in Rome City, IN, workshop participants will create narrative watercolor paintings inspired by her poetry. Artist Rebecca Stockert will walk participants through the process of creating an illustration using visual references directly from Gene’s garden and from photographs. Participants will read Gene Stratton-Porter’s poem “A Limberlost Invitation” and create a skunk watercolor painting. The painting will be inspired by the poem and Stockert’s own Skunk painting. This workshop is made possible by a grant through the Indiana Arts Commission’s Arts in the Parks program.
